This is a great idea to lessen the blow of transitioning to a new game after investing years for many players. They already just announced the upcoming Ep 6 boss fight will be the "final battle" and the end of the PSO2 story. At best they'll keep the game running without new content.
#Reddit phantasy star online 2 update
It is pretty cool that they are extending the graphical overhaul to PSO which makes sense if they have put all the time in to update all the fashion in the entire game, but ultimately, expect PSO2 to taper off in content in the next 2 years and probably end after that. For the most part, everything you can bring over is cosmetic.īesides that the two games are separate with a shared avatar. Sure you can bring weapons and mags over but they will have entirely different stats and functionality. It has a new engine, new combat system, new field system. Simply put, NGS is a sequel, a entirely new game from PSO2. I do not think I have ever heard of a game doing something like this before or at least framing it this way. I was very confused about what NGS actually is, but once you take a moment to reflect it is fairly obvious and pretty clever. If you care about fashion in online games, the cosmetics from PSO2 will likely carry over to NGS (although again, no hard confirmation) so you could start PSO2 now to buy some cosmetics (most of them can be bought with in game currency).Īnd well, the gameplay is fun as it is and there's still a lot of content and story to be added until NGS drops. NGS won't launch with all the classes, so PSO2 has more variety on that front. What would PSO2 have that would potentially make me want to play PSO2 instead of New Gensisi and would those features slowly be added in? With that said NGS might end up being a shit game at launch so we'll see. Realistically, will people eventually transition to New Genesis eventually or will it be split between PSO2 and New Genesis? The quests in the original game are likely not being ported over. And they will already be different when NGS launches. No confirmation but it's likely to get at least some content updates in the future. Will PSO2 continue to get updates that differentiate it from New Genesis? Will they eventually diverge in terms of gameplay and activities? The classes we see in action in the trailer have some gameplay differences too. It's going to be a different game starting from a (mostly) blank slate. I think the followup video mostly answers this question but no. Will New Genesis have everything PSO2 has, gameplay features, activities, map size, or is it starting from a blank slate? Now all ARKS, commence the hype and screaming! But please try keep it contained to here, we'll try update this post as new info comes out - if you have new information not listed in this post, send us a modmail (preferably with a source) and we'll add it to the list of what we know! What items won't be useable between both versionsĬonsumables for "battle, growth and enhancement"Ĭharacter growth will be independent between versions, so Levels, EXP, Class Skills, Photon Arts and Technique values won't carry over between versions. Unclear, but presumably accessories and costumes will transfer Mags, though they don't affect stats in New Genesis, their appearance and unlocked Evolution Devices will remain. Units, though they'll be invisible no matter what in New Genesis Weapons that are only useable by classes yet to be added to New Genesis won't be useable until their class is added (so that can also be treated as a soft-confirm that all current PSO2 classes will eventually make it in) Weapons, though their stats, potentials and augments will change. from above) What items be useable between both versions? It's still free-to-play with microtransactions, like current PSO2 It's got enhanced character customisation (such as even more freedom to position accessories on your character), and that customisation is going to be compatible with current PSO2 too!

and current PSO2 will receive the engine and graphics update too! It's going to run on an improved game and graphics engine. Your account, characters and many of your items will remain useable between both versions! Some won't however (Cont. It's launching as a new game of sorts alongside current PSO2 - current PSO2 will remain playable
